Kilimanjaro airport – Impala Hotel

Arriving with KLM at Kilimanjaro airport. Karibu (welcome in Kiswahili) Tanzania. Meet and greet with a transfer in an air-conditioned mini bus to Arusha. Check-in at the Impala Hotel, which is situated adjacent to a quiet residential suburb of Arusha.

Arusha – Tarangire

Meet and greet by your safari guide at the Impala Hotel in Arusha where you’ll start with your official East African Safari. Departing in 4 x 4 vehicles with your safari guide to the Tarangire National Park. It is the vast number of baobabs that first capture the eye as you enter Tarangire National Park. The gently rolling countryside is dotted with these majestic trees, which seem to dwarf the animals that feed beneath them. Enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire with lunch served at the Lodge. Continue exploring Tarangire with an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge or campsite.

Tarangire – Ngorongoro Crater
Distance: 155 km

Driving through the village of Mto wa Mbu (Maasai for Mosquito Creek) towards the Ngorongoro Crater with lunch at the Lodge. Enter the Crater via the Lemala road for an afternoon tour of the Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is not actually a crater, but is in fact the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Animals are free to leave or enter the crater but most of them stay because of the abundance of water and food available on the crater floor throughout the year. Overnight at Lodge or campsite.

Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti
Distance: 145 km

After breakfast a visit to the Maasai Village at Irkeepus can be added to the itinerary (for clients own account and can be pre-arranged) to learn about the culture of the Maasai and buy handcrafts. Drive towards the Serengeti with a stopover at Olduvai Gorge, the famous archeological site. Arrive in the heart of wild Africa, the great Serengeti, where endless plains roll into the distance as far as the eye can see. Herds of animals run swiftly across vast open spaces and predators hunt their prey. Lunch at the Lodge. Your guide will take you on a late afternoon game drive in the Serengeti. Overnight at the Lodge or campsite.

Serengeti

Be one of only a few fortunate people to fly with a Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti (for clients own account and can be pre-arranged). Floating silently above the awakening bush. Spot wildlife and enjoy the amazing scenery of Africa, across rivers and over small villages. Enjoy spending another full day in the Serengeti with game drives, including a picnic lunch in the Serengeti. Overnight at the Lodge or campsite.

Early morning game drive in the area of the Lodge or campsite before breakfast. Witness this incredible untamed wilderness where lion, elephant, cheetah and millions of hoofed animals roam. The Serengeti is one of the few places in Africa where game sanctuaries have remained completely unspoiled. Collect picnic lunch boxes before you depart on a full day game drive in the Serengeti. Overnight at the Lodge or campsite.

Serengeti – Lake Manyara
Distance: 205 km
Estimated driving time: 6.00 hours

Early morning game drive in the Serengeti before you head towards the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you’ll enjoy lunch at Gibbs Farm. You’ll spend the afternoon walking to the top of a nearby waterfall and see caves made by elephants. This guided walk takes about 2 or 2.5 hours and winds its way in and out of the forest highlands with breathtaking vistas; you will often see wildlife and always a multitude of birds. Late afternoon transfer to Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge or campsite.

Lake Manyara – Kilimanjaro airport

After breakfast you’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park with its tree-climbing lions for a morning game drive. Enjoy lunch at the Lodge before departing to Kilimanjaro airport for your flight home with KLM.
